I would also need to know who is to blame for these errors. Do I need to challenge the information with the credit reporting agency or the bank?

It's already commonplace to find inaccuracies in credit reports for many individuals. Instead of disputing with the lender, you should do so with the credit reporting agency (CRA), as the CRA will then check the information. Nevertheless, I advise you to start by reading this blog as it may offer you a wealth of significant and practical information.
